Waste Less, Live More – Reducing unnecessary fashion waste.

We were quite shocked to discover some alarming statistics surrounding waste in the global fashion industry. It’s estimated that 92 million tons of textile waste is created annually by the fashion industry. It’s also said that textile waste is to increase by around 60% between 2015 and 2030, with an additional 57 million tons of waste being generated annually, reaching an annual total of 148 million tons.

In short, around 30% of all clothing manufactured don’t get sold and never even make it to people’s wardrobes. This fashion waste sadly ends up in landfill or being incinerated. Whilst the world is going through a tough time with the economy, cost of living crisis, homelessness and poverty, it’s hard to believe that these statistics are true but unfortunately waste in the fashion industry is an ever increasing concern.

When we established Wildcat Canyon, we were committed to ensuring that we would not be part of this global issue. We take pride in ensuring that our cotton clothing is sustainable, ethically produced and of a high quality. Unlike many high street retailers, selling poor quality, cheap ‘fast fashion’ clothing, we believe that it’s well worth spending a just a little more on a high-quality organic cotton product that will last for years and hopefully become items that our customers cherish for a long, long time.

All Wildcat Canyon our clothing is printed/produced to order which means we don’t end up with tonnes of left-over stock to dispose of, however this is sadly not the case for the big high street bands. In addition to offering sustainable products, we also off-set our carbon footprint by planting a tree with every single order through our website and our partners, ‘Ecologi’.

We strongly feel that the ‘made to order’ business model is the future of an ethical and sustainable fashion industry.
